Easy Caramelized Onion and Garlic Pasta!
15 mins prepServes 2
This silky, creamy, 4-ingredient caramelized onion sauce is both flavorful and satisfying. The sauce is packed with the sweet smokiness of browned onions, garlic, chili oil, cream & melted parmesan.
Bring a large skillet with olive oil and butter to medium/high heat and add onions. Stir to coat in the oil and butter and lower the heat. Allow onions to brown and caramelize while stirring occasionally for about 30 minutes. Remove from the pan and set onions aside. Next, add chili oil and garlic to the skillet and stir until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Then add the heavy cream. For the gnocchi: add room temperature gnocchi to the skillet and sauté until crispy for about 8-10 minutes. If using spaghetti instead, boil according to package instructions and reserve some pasta water to thicken the sauce. Next, add the Parmesan cheese. It will melt and create a nice crispy crust against the caramelized onions and gnocchi. Garnish with fresh basil or thyme before serving.
